5-9 May 2025 - Kuching, Sarawak

Borneo ADR Week marked its return this year with a rich slate of events and sessions focused on alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

In his officiating remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof  recognised Borneo’s growing importance as a key player in ASEAN’s future, noting that the region stands at the threshold of increased cross-border commercial ties and investment networks particularly in vital sectors such as energy, logistics, infrastructure, and digital trade.

He says, ADR’s role in these developments extends beyond its function as a legal mechanism. An ADR ecosystem that is not only effective but also fair, culturally attuned and professional plays a vital role in enhancing investor confidence, in turn attracting foreign direct  investment.

Building such an ADR ecosystem is a collective endeavour. It requires more than local efforts; it is also reliant on cross-border collaboration among key stakeholders, including arbitral bodies, courts, academia, industry leaders and professional institutions.
